Confronting Evil

I wish I had a more positive story to start this blog, but this is not a good story at all.

I picked up Caleb and was driving home with him when I came across the scene of an accident. I stopped where I stopped because of the car in front of me, not because I noticed the accident, but I looked at the car sitting there, because it was perched on top of a fence.

A man got out of the car, went around to the passenger side, pulled his female passenger out, and beat her up (he punched and then kicked her). I was shocked, I yelled to the car beside me to call the police and I ran over. When I got there, the man stopped what he was doing.
He had beaten her badly. She was bleeding and moaning. She was taken away in an ambulance. -- She had not been hurt in the accident.

It really shook me. I had retuned to the car, and checked on Caleb when a woman from church showed up. Tracy came over, asked what had happened, and remarked "Oh, your trembling!" She gave me the most timely hug I have ever received.

I drove away after about 15 minutes waiting to talk to a policeman. I spoke to him then drove away singing "Old MacDonald" to Caleb.

I went with Tracy to a bar she knew near home. She bought me dinner & a beer. I was grateful, her kindness was a bit of a balance to the shock of the violence I had witnessed.
